In the beginning of 2003, there was made the network of 5E (100Mb) category, connecting all offices and rooms for accommodation of Students Home beneficiaries. On that occasion, electrical installations were also reconstructed and telephone and TV connections fitted in offices and rooms of the Students’ Home. Cable box was placed in the Tutor’s office and there is placed one of two inter-stations in the Students’ Home. The network performance satisfies all standards related to the equipments and their connection qualities. Within the network, there is placed ADSL device enabling all beneficiaries to use the Internet.

There was also installed a telephone exchange Panasonic KX-TDA 100, to which there was connected the primary and basic ISDN. This telephone exchange and ISDN (100 numbers) ensured that all rooms got their telephone number each, with direct outlet to external telephone network. All rooms may be telephoned in the period of rest, that is, in the period foreseen for studying, during working days, from 11:00 to 14:30 and from 17:00 to 22:00, and during weekends, from 07:00 to 22:00.

Offices personnel are allowed to call and receive calls from all external networks. TV signal receiving is possible in all rooms and premises, foreseen for watching TV programme. Besides the aerials, the Students Home has got connection to the cable SBB network. Video security covers all critical points within and around the Students Home. With the video software (with tutors) and 16 cameras doormen and tutors may smoothly monitor all happenings in the Students Home. In case of unforeseen or critical circumstances, it is possible to view archived material (for the period of 14 days). In the beginning of 2007 there was formed a Students Home Computer Center within the reconstructed premises (storages). Network and equipments installed satisfies the Category 6 (1Gb). Complete renewal of power cables was done, as well as of the carpentry, sewerage and water infrastructure, and conditions were created for establishing an Internet classroom. The second inter-station of the Students Home with the server was installed in the part of the Computer Center, specially foreseen for that, as well as with the service (PC repair) and offices of administrator and officer in charge legal department. There was also fitted the alarm system as well as fire detectors. Care was also taken of fire prevention and special fire extinguishing units HL-1 (Halon 1211) have been fitted on specified points.

Wishing to enable beneficiaries to use the Internet more easily, there was installed Wi-Fi infrastructure. Within the Home space, there were fitted 4 D-link aerials, covering the interior Home space and 1 external, covering the yard. By placing 4 computers in Home corridors (2 on the ground floor and 2 on the I floor) all interested users were enabled to use smoothly the wireless internet via ADSL (during the period of rest, as in case of telephone use). This was shown to be extremely popular since the beneficiaries started using this form of communication via their lap tops.

The Home disposes of 28 PCs of new generation as well as with 6 lap top units. Care has been taken that in the process of work every work place has necessary equipment of work (printer, scanner, etc). Beneficiaries have been trained to use PC in the domain of their working activities.

It is foreseen that in the period to come, there would be established an Internet classroom with 10 PCs for the Student Home beneficiaries.
