Meals and Procurement Service
The Students’ Home Meals Service functions as an entity for preparing food for students accommodated in Students’ Home, as well as for all those who wish to use the kitchen services – students, sportsmen... that is, the kitchen also works on commercial basis.
The employees of the Home Meals Service are obliged to ensure performance of all jobs in the Students’ Home kitchen, implying as follows:
- food providing for beneficiaries according to the specified assortment and quality for the planned regular and extraordinary meals
- kitchen space, kitchenware and devices sanitary maintenance
- planning and preparing food for the winter store, as well as all other jobs and tasks related to beneficiaries meals.
The kitchen is situated within the Students Home building central part. It is designed so as to ensure preparation of 800 meals a day. Besides the standard equipment, the kitchen disposes of convectomat for preparation of food, providing for food preparation on the steam and without fats.
Within the Meals Service there is also a Bakery, producing all kinds of breads and baked goods, both for the needs of the beneficiaries of the Students’ Home and external buyers orders. All baked goods may be ordered by and delivered to buyers at popular prices.
The Kitchen and the Bakery together, have 8 employees. In the kitchen there are prepared breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. On the average, there are prepared: 150 meals for breakfast, and for lunch and dinner, from 150 to 200 meals.
Menu is specified weekly, and every menu tend to be balanced, in terms of chemical composition, as well as in view of nutritional values, as prescribed by Law. Pursuant to Law, we are obliged to satisfy daily energetic needs of a child, which we fully observe. Laboratory control is done by Zavod za javno zdravlje Kruševac (Public Health Institute Krusevac). There are taken random food samples before the meal time of Home beneficiaries, as well as foodstuff samples from the store. There are also taken smears from employees hands, working surfaces, working clothes, devices and tools for food preparation. Besides, there is periodical supervision done by the Belgrade Institute for Students Health Protection (Zavod za zdravstvenu zaštitu studenata Beograd)
We are in the process of introducing HCCP Standard.
To the end of adequate and continuous food supply, the procurement is made pursuant to the Public Procurement Law („Official Gazette of R. Serbia“ No.116/2008-52). The Service monitors the foodstuff condition in the store and successively procures foodstuff for beneficiaries.
